Scouts: S. Thomas' College Bandarawela

Group Scout Leader: Mr. Thilak Jayasiri – ADC Special Events

During the year in review the following activities were performed very successfully.

• A one day camp was conducted on the 13th of January 2008 under the guidance of Mr. W.M. Weerasinghe Deputy Scout Commissioner Kandy District.
• On the 22nd of February two scouts took part in the Scout venture.
• A two day camp was conducted on the 7th and 8th of June under the guidance of Assistant District Commissioners Mr. W.M. Weerasinghe and Mr. Sarath Bandara.
• On the 18th of September 2008 alms were offered to the inmates of the deaf and blind school in Kumbalwela.
• Several Scouts organized projects to qualify for the President’s Award and the project highlighted most was the blood donation campaign organized by H.A. Tennakoon on the 12th of November 2008.
• Two Scout Troops participated in the Bandarawela M.M.V. Scout Troop Challenge hike.
• Ten Scouts submitted their applications for the President’s Award and Six Scouts were awarded.

CUBBING

Teacher-in-charge: Mrs. Maheshi Perera – ADC Cubbing, Badulla

The Cub Pack of 110 rally every Wednesday and during the period under review and a one day camp was held to improve the skills and talents of Cub scouts.

Mrs. Harshani Mahakumarage completed her Phase IV as Akela very successfully.

19 Cub Scouts were awarded the Gold Star Award in 2008.
